The Americans call this season fall - most think its because the leaves fall off the tree but somehow, someone made it up years ago that 'Fall' referred to the sun falling below the equator, lending itself to the Oz folks for half the year.

Autumn is a great month in Japan. Even though it gets colder, the air is fresher and the sky clearer.
Most days you can even see Fuji-san from my office.

In Syd, autumn comes and goes without much significance. Here, its such a phenomenon. The menus all change to comfort foods and the domestic travel marketing turn all walls to a spectrum of shades - Maroon, crimson, fiery red to pure orange, yellow orange, soft yellows and bright yellows.
Why are there always so many stairs at temples?
